Default SCARY!!!!

I live in greenwood indiana, and this morning we got cover in snow, which i have been waiting for since i lifted my xj, the scary part about driving into work was snow covered roads, that have not been plowed, i was all over the road, it felt like i was on ice?????????? Anyone experience this? Is it due to the truck is 2 light?????? Or would lockers help? Thanks

Slow down!! Muders suck in the snow (less then 6"). 4WD is only there to get you going not to stop you. If you have a 242 T-case you can just leave it in full-time 4wd. A rear Locker will only make it worse( or funner), causing you to fish tail.

Slow down and give adiquate time to stop. Muds are not great in snow either. If its a woreout set or cheap ones, get them syped. It helps.

I think its because of the tire width. Traction has alot to do with weight over surface area, so a light jeep with alot of tire surface makes it float a little bit. Maybe try adding some weight to the back end, or going to a narrower tire.

Lockers would make it alot worse. You'll be sliding all over.

This is why I always suggest having some good AT's for the winter..MT's suck in the winter. Once I get me some good MT's I will have some good AT's on rims for next winter and once winter weather sets in AT's will go on. Then I can toss it in fulltime 4wd and go all over with ease.

youre probably running too much air pressure in your tires.

XJ's already arn't that good in the snow compared to other vehicles. Plus im sure the higher COG doesn't help. Just be careful

Having a winter set is a very good idea. My winter tires are 265/75/15 Generals on stock wheels. My others are 31x10.5 Dick Cepek Mud Country on TJ Canyon’s. But still need to drive slow.

tire rack has a set of cheap snows for you. Continental makes a damn good tire. Being that you are in IN you will get them fast too, tire rack is based in IN.

I have run dedicated snow tires on my RWD car and the difference is night and day VS all seasons, if you have to drive a lot in the winter and can afford 2 sets of wheels and tires I highly recommend snow tires for the winter.

a stock XJ on ATs is plenty capable. A set of snow tires is just little nicer if you are out in the weather a lot.
