Question Saw post...Does 99+ manifold bolt right on 96 cherokee...

Hi,
I have a few questions. My manifold is cracked. So i was considering buying the header off of ebay. for about 150$. I read on another post that you can get like 30 more HP from a 99+ manifold. I have a 96 country. Is this direct bolt on. Can I or should I bolt on throttle body, injectors, or anything else? I'm going to have to perform a couple other repairs at this time.
Thank you for your time,
Lee

It should be a direct bolt on, you don't even have to change the power steering pump, you will need to use your 96 fuelrail/injectors and such though.

I am replacing my Header this weekend. I bought this APN Header...
http://www.ineedparts.com/auto-parts...-manifold.html

I did some of research on this and it was highly recommended. I am VERY impressed with it!

Don't know much about the '99 Intake yet, i'm interested how this thread goes!!!

Mustang Injectors seem to be quite popular on XJ's. There is a good article on CherokeeTalk.com on this...

... and i'm replacing my Motor Mounts and Valve Cover Gasket as well.

Ok. Do you think that exhaust manifold is better then this header found on ebay?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...Q5fAccessories
I will definitely get one or the other. Now since I already know I need a rear tranny mount. I am considering doing that side motor mount as well. Don't know if i will do valve cover gasket though I am pretty sure the jeep needs it. I was also considering a water pump. The driver side front u joint and inner axle shaft will be done at the same time as all this as well. The jeep has 167k miles...

UPDATE:
Ok,
I ordered the APN header. I received it. My first questions is did yours come with a bit of surface rust? I can take a picture for you if you would like. Also mine came with the end of the manifold gasket completely bent to wear the metal was broken on the inside of the gasket. They sent me a new one which is the wrong one(I got one for a 96-00 honda civic 1.6l) so they are sending me out another one. I only live an hour and a half away from where its getting shipped. my last question and probably most important is did any of you wrap your headers in exhaust wrap? Is it necessary and benefits/disadvantages? What about that titanium wrap stuff?
Thank you,
Lee

Header wrap is popular for Turbo engine because how tight everything is and the extreme heat.......

For you it would be a waste of money.....Or for ANY Daily Driver Why???

Holds in to much heat which could warp/crack the header.......Also my reccomendation to you is replace your motor mounts

Thats probaly why your header cracked in the first place.

Default About the manifold swap

It has been proven on the dyno (in an article in jeep mag, by jeep mag)that the manifold swap you speak of has shown no actual hop ups in hp, and gain in mpg. They did in fact show a loss in hp (about 5) and loss in mpg. The article did say that when you have a high flow head (ho head) and a performance cam, and headers, it does in fact add hp, but only about 5-10. Its all in the article, i'm not making this up.
