My 2000 xj is starting to sag in the rear my leaf springs are almost flat or even negative arch i would like to do a lift kit on it in the near future (maybe 2-4") i remember hearing about dodge dakota leaf spring work on an xj i was wondering if this is true , how much lift you get, how much fabrication is neccesary, and maybe even step by step directions if you have any details i would greatly appreciate hearing more about it thanks in advance

just buy some full leaf packs or make a bastard pack, s10 leafs work. its not worth it to even attempt to salvage flat leaf packs for a bastard pack or AAL.

the s10 swap is pretty easy
1 get the s10 or Dakota leafs from the jy (mark direction and which side)
2 put it on jack stands and unbolt your axle and shocks ex. let it drop out
3 take apart your leaf pack leave your main leaf still bolted up to the xj
by removing the center pin bolt and bend clips. toss the leafs but keep the last little helper spring.
4 take the s10 leafs apart don't mix them up or direction toss the thick bottom helper.
5 place the large main s10 spring under the xj main still in your bolted up
and try to eye ball the center pin holes and mark the s10 leaf at each end right at the end of the xj main leaf.
6 cut the main s10 leaf at the marks (this will cut off the ends)
7 place all the s10 leafs under yours and the xj helper last use a c clamp
to hold them together
8 put a new center pin in, then using a c clamp along the leafs put in new bend clips.
9 3.5-4 inch lift drink a beer (with extended shackles you can get more
lift or if they sag after time, i did it -check out my pics or ask me)
