I only once had a set of Rusty's shocks and I threw them in the back since they were to soft for the front. Rusty's coils plus Bilstein 5100's make a great combination

Looking at Rusty's site and going from the info there... they claim their heavy duty front spring is a 180 lb. rate. Which is the same a mid-80's 4wd V-8 F-150. So they wouldn't be soft at all....
Now I have never these coils so I don't have any idea whether Rusty's 180 lb. springs are the same as other companies 180 lb. springs.
But I also realize that Rusty's has fans and haters that don't care about any information that shows the opposite view.
The 3" lift I had worked well for what it was... a cheap, low budget lift. But to try and compare it to other higher end lifts doesn't really work.
the only rustys parts i run are his coils and i hate them. they are a 3" coil but sit at about .5" now. much too soft.
i had his tie rod, gave it away to a friend who had one of his garbage tie rod ends snap.
i was given a rustys trackbar, but threw it away, didn't wan't to use it and didn't wan't to let someone else use it. i have seen them break on speedbumps and light wheeling on the trail. as well as his inverted t steering snap on the street(welds not the tre's)
his leaf bushings are of a lesser quality, there is nothing special about any of his parts really.
ya get what you pay for. for him he uses lesser quality parts to maximize profits. the average lift kit customer will look at a few companies and go "OH MAN the rustys kit comes with shocks AND is cheaper" oh and his shocks suck.

That is so true. Back when I bought the few parts from him that I did. He had all this bad press as well, and I still had to learn. Now that I know.. I warn ppl that the stove is hot.. before they burn their hand too.
I am a Jeep abuser, but that is why I buy the parts that I do. I still have an RE hd Trac bar and brace that is 5yrs old, as well as a set of adjustable upper control arms, yeah the Powder coat looks a lil rough... but they still function as intended.

This all coming from a guy that runs what 37's or 38's. Your the exception not the rule. I don't think RE parts would hold up to how your rig is built and used. For the average DD/ weekend wheeler Rusty's is a very good. Could it use some upgrades and or updates yes, BUT all lift kits can also use them.
Ive got the 4.5" lift and when I went up I kept the 3.5" leaf pack from the 3" lift and I have had no problems. People are going to have problems with any make of lift. We do wheel these things hard sometimes and things are gonna break. If there is a perfect lift out there I want to know where it is and find out who is rich enough to have it.

that is true, gotta make $ somehow. prob not the greatest way, but look around at other companies to see how theyre makin there $ [everything in its mom made in china, etc] . but white shocks are white shocks, not usually the greatest stuff around, but they do the job

I totally agree with the "live and learn" theory. I have had every lift kit from 3 1/2 all the way to what I've got now. The first kit I bought was a 3 1/2" Tuff country and I hated it. Then I switched to Rough country. Everyone told me that RC is junk. Come to find out it's not, judging by my experience with part failure. Rusty's, RE, Rk are all decent companies but all have areas of which could use improvement.
My advice: buy it, wheel it, break it, and upgrade it piece by piece if you have to. Right now my suspension is built by 6 different companies. And there's nothing wrong with that. No one kit is going to be perfect.
Going by word of mouth is helpful, but isn't trial and error what this sport it all about?
