I hope that you didn't pay to much for her... After you flush the engine and replace all the hoses, radiator, water pump and heater core. Keep close eye on every part of the engine and hope that once you get all that crud out of there that you don't have major leaks. That includes the freeze plugs, head and the engine block.
Wish you luck on her.

wow
I was gonna ask about rusty cooling system
this 93 i just bought .. seller replaced water pump, rad hoses, thermo, flushed system
I noticed a little rust on rad-cap and the heater hoses when I replaced heater valve, that started leaking from vacuum pivot arm after i drove it home
.. but nothing like that .. holy moly
should I replace heater hoses since inside walls are brown ? .. then get it flushed again? thinkin I need to swap radiator too, looks to be a ready rad, basic store bought .. seller didnt replace that, but it isnt leaking (yet) ... doesnt look too old
What affect does this rust have on engine block ? mine is minor seeing this, but been on my mind

The block and head (both cast iron) r the source of the rust. Those pics are the direct result of the motor being run without the proper corrosion protection (antifreeze/coolant).

It is 00 XJ 4x4 4.0
I bought it in non-running condition with bold tires. It was parked for a few months (years?). It was running hot, seller said.
I paid too much. There is white smoke, but I still hope, it is condensation in muffler. No codes after I replaced one dead injector. Knock stopped after flushing engine by ATF.
