So I'm finally getting a start on restoring the floor pans on my 89. This afternoon I pulled the rear section of carpet to get a look. Yikes! I got a bunch of 3x3' square sheet metal sections a while back and am planning on riviting (to start) then welding in the replacements. My question is where does the floor pan attach to the frame rails? I assume around the rear axle the sheet metal's welded in? Anywhere else? Thanks, Sean

Sorry about the lousy pictures. I forgot to take them before I put the back together again.

be careful while your drilling and welding. The gas tanks right under there!
I haven't had a jeep tank out yet but on other vehicles I've worked on it rest right up against the floor. Any holes you drill in the floor can go into the tank!
Maybe a better fix if you don't want to take the tank off is to grind or wire brush the area and fiberglass it. then put the truck bed liner stuff over that.
Just a thought.
