Fenders..

im thinking of getting red of the fenders on my xj.. i have a 95... with the stock plastic ones.. are they generally easy to take off.. dont want to be opening a can of worms.. and info would be appreciated... thanks

The fender flares are easy to remove with a wrench. There are 32 nuts to remove for all 4 and you will likely break many of them off in the process. That makes removal easy, but if you want to put htem back on, you will have to drill out the broken bolts and have new ones welded on like studs. I would also advise you to look at pictures of XJ who run flareless to make sure that is what you want.

yeah flares meant to tsay that ha.. yeah i looked around and i really like that look i took mine off today.. real PITA since some bolts choose to break and or strip.. but there off.. im putting some stainless bolts in the holes.. i think it gives it a real cool look

Jersey law requires that your tires are completely covered, including the side lugs ... plus mud flaps if the vehicle is lifted. Now you might say that you know guys who have been running flareless & flapless in Jersey with no issues. So do I, but I'm the one the cops looked at. Your mileage may vary.
