Very very nice.

I wish we had the tools to make stuff like that. Maybe one day when we actually live in a HOUSE hubby can fill the garage with all the tools and gadgets he will need

The ones I made are are overkill, Home Depot sells sheetmetal and tin snips. Make a template out of poster board pay attention to the bends so it will fit close to the body, trace your tamplate out on the metal and cut it out. Bend it up and screw or rivit it in place. You could even use a 2 part glue the fasten it to the body. You don't need a shop to do this..... you could do it at the kitchen table after dinner.

Default Crazy but it works

I had the same rusted out panels on my 89 Cherokee. I cleaned the rust with a wire brush then filled the gaps with Great Stuff Foam, use the regular not the Big Gap formula . Any hardware store or Big Box will stock it. Wear rubber gloves as this stuff is also great at sticking to your skin. After it cures hard you can sand it to match the body contour. Once you've matched the body lines score the foam to roughen the surface. Then apply bondo, resand, spray with primer then color.
Sounds nuts, I know, but we are talking about 15-20 year old Jeeps here that you want to get a little more life out of. I did this fix two years ago and it has held up well. I live in the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks where conditions are harsh yet unless you look very hard the only thing you will find are slightly different shades of red paint.
If it catches on maybe you could name it after me. "The Dobridge Fix" or "Dobie" as I'm sure it would be known as. I'll post photos if anyone needs them but the fix is good enough as to not be noticeable. Good luck to you.
