After work, started it right up, it then ran a little rough and slowly started to burn rich, sputter a little. so I disconnected the TPS (again) and it runs smooth, without burning rich.. So, you think I should attack the clock spring ?....I found a way to reconnect the CS on you tube....any other Ideas, thanks, Buzz
NEW INFO: the voltage on the TPS was ok ..except !!! the signal wire was at full open at idle... 5. OR SO V IS GOOD FOR THE '99 the 8. something voltage must be for another RELAY OR SENSOR So, since the airbag lite is on, the horn doesn't work, and the TPS is funky It's off with the steering wheel and repair or find a new CS or check the 5v line voltage...... thanks for your tips. The reason I had to put this info on this post is that C Forum won't let me sign in on the reply page...... since i ran a Malware firewall. It's always something...Keep on Keepin on !!!!..Buzz...More later..so avjeep parts or something like that on craigslist for a CS ??

Voltage coming out of the TPS should be close to 0 when closed and 4.5-5 when fully open - it's only 5VDC feeding into it

Have you check the voltage of TPS?

Regarding the clock spring affecting the tps. I have two fuses for the horn and pulled them both and have had no issues since. I do have a bad clock spring. The solution I read a few years back aside from replacing the clock spring was to pull the horn fuse and cruise control fuse if you have cruise. I don’t remember if there’s also a fuse for the airbag. Those are the only items feeding voltage through th clock spring. Try pulling those fuses and see what happens. Leave the tps plugged in if coarse.
