Default Runnin lights stay on???

i have an 87 cherokee and my running lites are staying on wen the lite switch is off and the key is turned off. why is this???

Here is some thing to try turn you lights off before turning you key off and see if they shutoff that way.

The turn you key off and then you lights off and see if they stay on.

If they stay on that way you have a lighted path feature my jeep has it also the lights will stay on for about 15 secs to light your path to your door then they will auto shut off.

try that and tell me what its doong then i can go from there

I have an 87,it does the same thing,just shut off the lights before you tunr off the key,its a courtesy feature.

ive tryed everything...turning the key off then turning the switch off worked untill i shut the door

the light switch its self may be bad,or the timeing modual for the lights I'll look in my book hold on.

my book shows the headlamp delay is a 25 amp in slot/cavity 11 on the fuse block,but thats all I can find.

sorry, Daytime Running Light module. if you guys have that in your american jeeps. i know we do here in canada. it powers the high beams on at half power for daytime driving. common problem on jeeps here.

check on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
you can just disconnect it, i have mine disconnected on my 92, the only side effect is that my high beam indicator light doesn't come on now.

On the older XJs they have a delay on the head lights makes them stay on for 30 seconds or so after you pull the key if you don't turn them off first.Its so you can see in the dark to get to your door thing.
