I have a magic notebook similar to yours, but instead of technical info it's part numbers, substitute part numbers and vendors. Also contains conversations with XJWonders.

Is the splash guard the right size for 97-01 xj's. Mine's torn up and I have been looking for an oem solution to replacing it, but just wanted to know if it's the right size.

 

Not a clue but there is a good chance I will be buying one in the somewhat near future. With a boat load of other parts. Trying to finish the XJ this year. Even though are they truly ever finished. And mine is stock. If and when will post a review. Could you do the same?

Jim Fillmore here, Detroit Muscle Technologies, I just purchased an NOS JEEP 52003570 lower / alternator splash shield off the German Ebay site. Whew. Took me a couple years to locate this. I make the one for 94-01. It'll be nice to round out my offerings and have the 87-93 one. This one looks like a bit more work to make. Looks like a couple grommets were added on 2 of the mounting holes. Also looks like a small "pad" of some sort (guessing about 3" square) is also riveted on. Maybe some sort of abrasion or heat shield. I should have the shield in a month the tracking shows. I'll have one made up in a couple weeks after that. Here are some pictures of the NOS one

 

Finally duplicated that factory one. Now I learn its just for 2.5L. I'll have to locate a good 4.0L piece for a template. All the grommets, rivets and metal plate (the plate is used to bolt this to the frame rail) are stainless.

 

wish I had a dollar for every one of those I ripped out and threw away.
