I was just wondering what the rpms might be while cruising at 65 mph in my Cherokee? I’ve got 3inches with 32s and stock gears. I’m pushing like 2500 on the interstate and I’ve also got an engine code for a tcc solenoid.

 

With stock tires and no converter clutch, you'd be running closer to 3000. IIRC. I think mine runs at 2800. 3000 is where it makes max torque. Notice how perfectly straight the horsepower curve is though.

 

RPM= MPH x axle gear ratio x transmission gear ratio x 336 divided by tire diameter.

 

Also, while cruising along at a steady highway speed, lightly tap the brake pedal with your left foot. See if it jumps a few hundred rpm, which would be the torque converter unlocking.
