Default Rough startup when hot, fine when cold

my '01 XJ has a occasionally occuring startup issue that is proving to be frustratingly elusive. I go to school in florida and the jeep sometimes starts up really rough, it turns over fine but then starts to stutter and shake, i have to mess with the accelerator a bit before it coughs out of its funk and starts driving fine. The problem seems to be worse when trying to start it after long drives, sometimes almost threatening to cut out. Since bringing it home for the winter to the cold north the problem has disappeared though there is a hint of it after long drives. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried shutting it down immediately after it begins so sputter and shake, and then restart?

Mine has a similar issue on very rare occasions, on all three of those occasions the shut-down/restart did the trick.

Makes me think there is an issue with fuel delivery, like at first there is not enough fuel in the rail, but I never really tracked it down because it is so random.

Mine does this when it's 75* + I've attributed it to no return system and the fuel boils in the rail . Thinking about adding older rail with return .
No return and ethonated gas = fail !
My rail and injectors are wrapped that helped alittle . Also my heat guards are intact , injectors are new . I am going to try key cycle before starting .

Search for heat soak and technical service bulletin. Been discussed several times before. Its no. 3 injector exposed to excessive heat.

This this this, a million times this.

This topic comes up very frequently and it's an extremely common problem. I upgraded to the neon injectors and the problem isn't nearly as bad (even with heat shielding) but I still notice it from time to time.

i got the sheathing and put it on the #3 injector on my wifes, cuz of the same problem, fuel bubbles in the injector due to heat, seems ok so far

I had similar problem. In the summer sometimes after driving for awhile it would start up horribly and even back fire almost stall n crap while I gave it pedal. It would also just die randomly on hot days and leave me sitting for 15+ mins then start and be fine.

Replaced fuel pump and rebuilt Bosch design III injectors (yellow and all plastic)

Never came back, lot more power too.

The stock metal heat shield is theyre on mine. Whats this about wrapping? just with the heat resistant tape stuff for like manifolds?
