Default Rough idling and dieing

So I have a 98 jeep Cherokee and I drove it parked it got up to drive it to work the next day and it was idling really bad and rough. It sputters to get up to speed but at like 35 drives fine at idle it almost dies. Shop said it was the ecu so I replaced it and it didn't change anything at all. Smells like fuel when I am driving it. Any suggestions?

Based off of the fuel smell the first thing I'd look for is a fuel leak of some sort, whether it be liquid or vapor.

Have a parts store run a code check. My Jeep needed a new map sensor and 02 sensors. Never hurts to replace fuel filter, but I seriously doubt the filter is the issue.

Map Sensor solved my low speed idle issue.

Try cleaning the surrounding area with sensor cleaner. If disconnecting it fixes it, then the new one has to be bad/wrong, right?

Reset your system by disconnecting the battery overnight.

Sounds like you got a bad part. The parts store will exchange it for a new one no sweat.

I replaced one of the o2 sensors (the one behind the intake manifold) and it seems to run a little better than before should I replace the one next to the cat?

The front stream (front sensor) is the more important.

Is the fuel smell stronger in the cab or the outside?

someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that unplugging the MAP sensor while its running rough and it gets better is a SIGN of a bad Map sensor. Maybe a bad replacement? it's happened to me.

That is a sign of a bad map sensor. They gave you a bad or incorrect part.?
