I always check the gap. Some sets for some cars are all wrong. At least once I found one individual plug that appeared to have been dropped, as well. (no gap at all). Since it started acting up with the plug change, something is up there! As Rooler says, I'd double check the firing order. 153624 clockwise, from #1, at 5:00, as viewed from the side.

If you have the same problem I did, both my O2 sensors catastrophically failed and caused it to read an ultra lean condition so the computer poured the fuel table to it completely and was basically doing wide open throttle fuel at idle. I have the app Torque and the Bluetooth adapter so I was able to watch this happen in real time. Replaced them and all was well.

It's pretty doubtful that him changing the plugs affected an 02 sensor. Still interesting though. So that's a wireless diagnostic transmit deal (the "app Torque") , and your phone "or something" displays readings from it? That sound's worthy of it's own thread!

documentary voice-over: "And that moment, dear viewers, was the moment D was introduced into the world of the modern generation app gadgets".

And D, you and you alone may keep calling me Rooler, just for being you, mate

Bought a cheap Bluetooth obd II adapter from fleabay,u bought the app from Google play, and for about $20. I wasn't saying that him changing his plugs would effect this in the same way mine did. Mine just did it one day on the way to work. But it did have the same symptoms. It would start up fine and once it went into operating temp closed loop, you could watch the fuel trim via the readouts go from -5% all the way to +32% in a matter of seconds and it was overheating the catalyst idling causing the rotten egg smell.

Hi all, Thank you for all the responses, sorry was not able to get back to offer input till now. Turns out that the parts store gave me the wrong plugs, they gave me plugs for a grand cherokee 4.0 instead of the cherokee 4.0 even though I asked for the cherokee plugs .... changed the plugs over and they are in the correct order, however there seems to be a gas leak under the intake manifold, could that have occurred due to the wrong plugs? I have been working late and trying to work on the cherokee in the dark and its hard to see where exactly the leak is coming from...looks like it is right above where the exhaust manifold connects...any ideas?

Thanks

Careful with that. Gas leaks can mean fire. Inspect it carefully before driving any more.

PS: Ain't from the wrong plugs.

Yea...I'm not very familiar with the 98, but on my 90 the flex line off the rear of the rail connects to the rigid from the pump, down about there. There's rings on that snap-on quick disconnect deal there. All I know pretty sure is you need to put the rings on the tube, (be sure there are none still stuck in the hole), then plug it on. (you will never get the tube through rings in the hole). Edit! It looks like the 90 has two rings, with a spacer between. See post #26. Maybe Rooooler, can help clarify that when he wakes up. (I'll woork on that Bud!)

Not that it doesn't need re-done, but sometimes giggling a bad connection with an O ring will make it seat. Get a good light! Heck the $1 store has one that will work a bit.

Should be only 1 line coming to the fuel injection rail. Has o-rings and a spacer in it.

Don't ignore it and have a Jeep-B-Que please.

OK Cuz I waz ignorant I took a quick look. If yours has sort of a "saddle clip" (found later) it's not the same as this 90>

This says it's a 98, pretty different. Looks like his comes into the front of the rail, a long ways from where the earlier connects, at the rear.

In ether case, the lower end of the flex line attaches to the rigid tube down below. "looks like it is right above where the exhaust manifold connects.." Maybe about there!

Jacking the Jeep by the frame, and leaving the axle hang with no wheel there might help you get a look at it. Not sure there though.
