I think I will go with the Rough Country 6.5 it is a awesome deal at 849.00 , then I will upgrade to the long arm kit later , I didn't know I could do that , thanks for the info everyone! ( is it a big job to upgrade to the long arm kit later ?) , with 6.5 I can install 33" (285/75/15) no problem without trimming or 35" with minor trimming , XJ's just look awesome with a big lift and beefy tires ...

the older NP231's (pre '97)can handle more lift without an SYE because its made a little different than the newer ones, someone told me UP TO 6 (not quite sure that's for real...the max height I mean), but I have about a 3.5" and no probs on my '93 but I will do my own SYE when money is not as tight, with 6.5" no matter year what you should do a SYE, (You then will never have to wonder if you are causing damage)

Default Rough Country 6.5

I have decided to go with the Rough Country 6.5 long arm lift , everyone tells me that the long arm system is a much smother ride on and off road . Question , can I put 33" tires on my stock 15" aluminum rims? or do I have to buy different rims? For 1299.00 I think the lift is a awesome deal... (=

If you do narrow 33's like 10.5 wide you will be ok w/ minor rubbing but you won't get the wide stance so much because the stock rims aren't backspaced

You can put them on stock rims but I would purchase some new ones. This way you will have a wider stance for more stability and less rubbing due to different backspacing. You could always put them on the stock wheels for now and upgrade later if cash is short.

Nice choice! I agree with the kit being a good deal. My 6.5 LA is on order and should be here sometime in the next few days

I am thinking about the rc 6.5 LA kit and I am wondering if anyone knows what size shims I would need to get my pinion angle close. If it is easier to just measure after the kit is installed you can still drive with without it right

My 6.5 RC is perfect. If you get the drop arm brackets the ride is not bad b/c it moves the control arms down. Also you dont need any part. I bought my lift and needed nothing else. No need for a SYE with this lift for me atleast that is. I have no vibes from it.

You can look at my pictures to see a few flex pictures of it and with 33" tires
