Default rotor/pad/hub/u joint questions

I can tell my front u-joints are going out along with my hubs because of all the noises they make individually. My front brakes are also starting to squeal loudly lol. Needless to say, I want to replace all this stuff at once. I've been reading up on all the how-tos and am confident that I can accomplish this task. Now, what parts should I buy? Because of the cast/composite issue with hubs not fitting, etc, I just want to make sure I buy a good combo of parts here. What will work best in my 96 Cherokee without any modifications? Can I just choose cast rotors (they are better right?) and then pick associated Timken hubs (for cast rotors), then bolt on and go?

I was thinking 2x RAYBESTOS Part # 780444 rotors from rockauto
RAYBESTOS Part # ATD477C brake pads from rockauto

I know those parts are expensive, is there something better out there for less/same amount of money? The biggest pet peeve I have is squeaking brakes, which are currently horrible on my ride. Is there something cheaper that will do the trick? I always figured you get what you pay for. I just never want to have brakes like that again. They should only squeak right before they are about to die...

And because the rotors say FULL CAST replacement, would I buy Timken hubs made for CAST ROTORS? What Timken hub part # is this? I just want to make sure I'm buying the right stuff here.

Thanks in advance

Do you have any lift & what are your plans?

Why replaced your stock brakes when you can upgrade? Many can be sourced at a JY but some you will have to get new.

http://www.xjsocal.com/showthread.ph...ng-on-a-D30-XJ

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/w...-list-1216365/

I can get you all of the parts except:
2- JKS hub spacers - 40$
3-Go-fer-it inserts- 49$
3-Teraflex offset TREs - 160$
1-Teraflex non offset for Pitman to DL- 60$
JKS swaybar 2" lift brackets- 40$
JKS trackbar overaxle bracket - 50$
2 WJ lower balljoints - FREE at autozone with REWARDS hahaaa
Draglink 26.5" + two 1" long weld in bungs - 58$ (parts from WFO concepts)
TieRod 45"+ two 1" long weld in bungs threaded - 70$ (WFO concepts)
NEW Trackbar 1.25OD /cut/tapped/threaded with high misalign heim at frame side and adjustable at frame and axle side - 80$ (custom)
Swaybar reloation atop - "over axle bracket" and shorten swaybar quickdisco - 20$
Weld on JKS OAB - 40$

You could seach & might find the parts cheaper.

I am not lifted at the moment. I really just want to bolt on some new rotors and hubs and make sure they are going to mate up well. This is my DD so I don't have time to go back and forth to the auto parts store. I think I just want to stick with replacing the brakes with stock replacements at this point, I just want to confirm what hubs go with what rotors, specifically what Timken hubs go with "Full Cast Replacement" rotors.

Thanks

If they are replacement rotors they should be stock like. I like the ceramic pads at oreilly or Napa. Although I switched to ebc greens and they are well worth the money.

You won't get Timken hubs for a 1996 from Rock Auto, they don't have them. At least not for that year. They do carry SKF which should be fine.
If you aren't sure what you need, bring your current parts to NAPA and have them match them up. No headaches that way.

Yes, Timken HA597449 is what you want to run full cast rotors. Don't forget to buy new spindle nuts.

While you're in there I recommend you grab new caliper guide bolts, sleeves, and rubber bushings like Carlson H5066 and 16122.

That was then, this is now. When they run out of something and don't expect to re-stock it, it gets removed from the online catalog. Since it's gone (see below) they don't expect any more soon. .

That's strange. When I made my last post, the Timken hubs for composite rotors were listed. I derived my P/N above for full-cast by cross-referencing the composite hub P/N with other years, and Timken 513084 was certainly there.

That IS odd, we both looked at basically the same time!
I looked 2 weeks ago when I was re-doing my u-joints and front axles and they didnt' have Timken for '96. They're still not listing them as of an hour or so ago. Maybe you should look again too, lol. Maybe they just don't want to sell me any
Found them on Amazon for $88/ea.

eta: even stranger, check the disclaimer at the bottom of the page when you search by manufacturer. They list all the brand names except Timken:

Please check notes in each part listing to ensure the Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly is correct for your 1996 JEEP CHEROKEE with a 4.0L engine. PRO, VALUE PRO, RAYBESTOS, MOOG/NATIONAL, SKF, & OMIX-ADA are competing brands, and each brand's Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly may be interchangeable. Special restrictions like "California only" or "with sport package" may indicate a Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly fits only certain 1996 JEEP CHEROKEE models.

The Timken composite ones have certainly disappeared from all model years... The full-cast hubs are still listed under 1999 though, as are the other brand composite hubs. Weird. Maybe an inventory error and they suddenly realized they were out of stock.

I ended up going with Moog hubs Part # 513084 and Powerstop rotor/pad kit Part # K2119.

I'm hoping those along with axle u joints will make my ride quiet again in the front.

Thanks

Good deal. Do you have them installed, or are they on order? I'm wondering how the power stop stuff is, I've never seen it in person.
