Default Roof rust

I have a 2000 jeep Cherokee sport red .. With 200000 miles on her and she is bone stock .. I love it to death but seeing the rust on the front corners of the roof is just killing me .. Does anyone else have similar rust ? Has anyone found a way to seal this rust off to stop it from getting worse ? Or better yet fix it ? Anything helps fellas .. Thanks

I had severe rust on my roof/hood, I did the cheapest and quickest thing as a teen I can do. I went to walmart and bought some rust reformer, started sanding, and got to spraying

sure its not the fanciest, but for $10 and a couple of hours it was well worth it. it's been 4 months and no sign of any rust coming back!

You can buy a full size can of the factory color online for about 20 bucks, then do a clear coat on top. It's important to deal with it so it doesn't keep working through the body. Clean looking Jeep by the way!

I thought about trying a roll on Bedliner on the roof .. Or a spray on .. Has anyone done this before ? I don't want to end up buying a cheap product that's gonna fade .. If I don't go that route I plan trying to sand and paint .. Thanks for the help !

Your Jeep is to nice for a half-azzed job take it to a body shop and have them repair it. If I had my guess you may have a more serious issue, rust in the windshield rubber seal area. You won't know till the windshield has been pulled to see, don't try this yourself unless your ready for a new windshield they break easy. Just have the body shop pull it or a glass shop.

Nice bodies on XJ's are something you don't come across every day and unless I'm missing something yours looks good except for those small areas.

It is a really clean looking Jeep, body shop wouldn't be too bad...

Well, it's not the end of the world to do it DIY. Just sand it off, tape it up, prime, paint and clearcoat. Won't be perfect but it'll be close and won't rust out on you.

I did the tailgate on my truck and ordered online for full size cans of the factory base coat and clearcoat. You can get the paint code off your vin. It turned out great.

Default Rust

I had some rust on my roof along my windshield, I had to have my windshield replaced so I decided to clean-up the rust and prime and paint it before he did the installed. I took the whole area down to bare metal. The one thing that is very important it to wipe the bare metal clean with Klean-Strip Prep-All (or something that is equal to it) to get all impurities off the surface before you prime and paint. Even if your just doing a rattle can, it will make a world of difference.

I just had my whole roof sanded and painted for $500. I had quarter, nickel, dime sized spots everywhere... Paint sanded off and the whole roof was a giant rust blister.
