My 1991 had many holes in the roof bigger than softballs. I used a 'roofer' approach, roof tar and asphalt mesh. It all became one with the headliner and worked well until that fateful day..

I can't see the roof in the pic but it looks like you may have had some rusty spots developing along the undercarriage as well. You fall asleep doing some surf fishing?

If you are DIY, consider either getting it media blasted or DIY. Whoever does it, if they use sand or grit, don't get to aggresive. The metal isn't all that thick having rusted. IMO, soda would be best.
