The Rock Hard cage fit looks awful to me. It doesn’t hug the interior of the vehicle, which will really turn it into a head-knocker in a crash or roll. The foot plates are too small to make it appear of any safety value, and indeed, may even be a liability due to its head-knockingness. It also lacks triangulation.
The only way I can see a cage working in the XJ is by having it custom fabricated and welded to the vehicle with large foot plates. It should be welded not only to the pan but also joined to the A and B pillars (preferably also C pillar).
Triangulation and gusseting is of critical importance. Most of the XJ cages I’ve seen are improperly triangulated and either lack gussets or use inadequate single-plate gussets. (Though, admittedly, single-plate gussets are probably adequate for lower-speed uses, but a double-plate “taco” gusset won’t add much cost.)
Look at JeepSpeed cages built by well known desert race shops. These are the only XJ cages I’ve seen that are properly built.
The Rock Hard cage is just a show piece.
