Hi guys, i have posted about this issue before....it is a roaring howling noise in my 01 xj chrysler 8.25 dana 30 .....3.55 gears stock cherokee............when i am decelerating and turning right even the slightest turn right it is a loud howl......now if i am going over a hill or slight hills in the road and turning it will be intermittent....like waaa...nothing...waaa nothing.....as i go over the hills or bumps.....now i took it to clemson 4x4 in sc.....they said they took a screwdriver and were able to move my differential through my drain plug and they said it was my carrier bearings....so does this sound legit. they are a reputable shop, but i was unimpressed with their diagnostic method...they didnt pull the cover or even check the front.
I feel vibration underneath my feet synonymous with the noise and i am actually considering that it could be the front hub or even tc or front differential related. but i am no expert and have yet to pull the covers myself. any input would be great
thanks

Meh. sticking a screw driver thru the drain hole for diagnosis is BS. There's enough backlash in there to not be able to tell...
Take it somewhere else... I've had mixed luck with those guys before.
I don't see how a bad carrier bearing would roar while coasting and turning.
That sounds more like a rear wheel bearing or front hub assembly.
Is it coming from the front or the rear?

Front left hub assembly.
When you turn right, there is more of a load on the outside wheel (left). When you decelerate suddenly, weight is also transferred to the front axle. That is why you only hear the noise under certain circumstances.

Yup Jack your wheels off the ground and try to move them at the 12 o clock and 6 o clock positions. You'll probably find looseness in the from if its your hub bearing.

hey guys sorry i went mia ......i have to agree its the front hub assembly......or a wheel bearing....i have yet to diagnose it as im busy with school and work.....but this month will definitely be a month to fix it .....but i really appreciate the input and i believe that clemson 4x4 did a poor job in their diagnosis and the carrier bearing doesnt make sense to me bc any movement or shift in the road could make the noise ,,,and there are times where it does not do it with shifts in the road. thanks again more updates will be coming within the next weeks !!!
