Default RMS/oil pan gasket leak

I'm leaking oil bad from the "U" part of the oil pan. I used the blue rubber oil pan gasket everyone said to use and I installed it right an the RMS my dad installed for me who has 20+ years of working on cars but his first xj. At a idle it doesn't leak but at 2000rpm it leaks profusely. What was done wrong? If anyone cud help I wud appreciate it. 1987 jeep cherokee base 4.0 I6

You sure it's not leaking from above and just dripping down to that area, mimicking an oil plan/RMS leak?

Checked the head the valve cover has a new gasket I put on it and torqued to spec. Is it possible tht the RMS is in backwards? Or the bottom rms was put on backwards?

You or someone else is underneath watching this happen?

I just went through this last week on my '89. I recommend you read through the thread linked below. I began experiencing the same problem you're having at post #17 and resolved it on page 5. I'm not saying your problem is caused by the same thing but every possible cause is covered in that thread.

How they made that is completely retarded but I'm gonna pull the pan off once again and check to see if installed the "right" way. I'll let the damn thing sit for a day and make sure it seals. Iv never had this much problems out of a xj and this is my 4th
