Ring & Pinion Gearing question
As this is being my first 4WD...
My 31's are damn near close to done...I have a set of 33's waiting to go on.
But first I have to fix my D30 problem, from a bad mud incident, pretty much rebuilding it.
I would want 4.56 as my ratio, correct?
I have to switch both R&P's out (F+R) right?
Or can I just do the rear for better gas mileage according to tire size?
Im pretty sure I know the answer to this question...I just want to make sure.
I also heard that I might need a different carrier?
Something like a high speed carrier or something....right?
Does this also use different bearings or can I use the same ones?

you have to switch both, you will trash your tc using 2 different ratios
carriers will have to get changed out with a superlow gear like 4.88, I think thats the low point for them

The carrier break for the D30 is 3.55 and higher and 3.73 and lower so a new carrier would be in order and deff buy new bearings. The D35 is 3.55 and lower and the 8.25 uses the same carrier reguardless. Like stated above they have to match or you will kill the t-case, driveshafts, ring and pinion or any combo of those. I ran 4.56s with 33s and an auto and loved the power and I run 35s with them now and still great.
