Default Rice Crispy treat syndrome

Does anyone know how to fix the *Snap* *Crackle* *Pop* that our doors make? Both my front doors make this noise when I open/close them...

Have you tried lubing the hinges and check straps?

No check straps to slow you down in 89.
Lubed like crazy, still lots of the "rice crispies".
I don't expect to resolve all issues and just learn to love the pain.

I took the pins out on both my front doors. Door swings free but it's much less annoying

The pins in the latch are loose. I replaced mine with a nut and bolt and the noise quit.

Knock the center pin out from the door check. Use a small amount of steel wool and insert in to the holes the pin sits in and tap the pin back in place. Problem solved and the steel won't wear out. No door check money required.

Good idea, I'll have to try that one. The lube helped for a day but know it's coming back.

Yeah, that's only temporary if it even works at all. I used PB Blaster, WD40 and White Lithium. Nothing worked. The holes get ovaled out from banging on the pins so you need something that will take the weird shaped space but not fall apart. I had people laughing me when they saw me do it. Then when I did it for them, they appreciated my stupid little trick. I've had mine in for a year now. No noise at all. It's great.
