Hello All,

After a few times of taking my radiator to get flushed and plugged/welded/patched up. I believe it's time for a new one. What would be the best route for my DD?? Are the radiator with plastic tank any good? All aluminum radiator? I do alot of driving and I don't want to break down while taking my girl out for dinner or on a camping trip. HAHA. Any help would be much appreciated.

I replaced mine a few months ago with a 2-row aluminum one from Radiator Barn. I've been really happy with it - keeps the engine about 5/10 degrees cooler than the stock one. (And I frequently pull a 14' trailer. In Florida. In the summertime.) It never goes above the center line on the temp gauge. Hope that helps!

 

The all aluminum radiator is better for cooling and reliability. The ones with the plastic end caps are prone to leaking at the end caps.

 

i have the one with plastic ends that i just put in keeps it cooler than the last one

 

I got a 3 row heavy duty all metal one from radiator barn for 192.00 shipped to the house, real easy to install and it keeps the jeep 10 degrees cooler and stays at 210 with the a/c running.

 

mine is the line under 210 my old rad was at 210.

 

That's what I figured, I found one that was used for about 6 months that has large 1" tubes, single row for $100 on CL. What do ya guys think??

The Spectra Premium OE style (Autozone) is 1 1/4" thick and $110 new.

 

My ? is, the 2 and 3 row rads at radiator barn say "all metal" not "all aluminum" so, are the "all metal" rads copper/brass? The FSM says the plastic tanks are stronger than brass.

Ditto. The RB 3 row is a copper core with brass tanks. Easy install, and outstanding customer service.

 

thats the one i have its a good unit but its not any better performance wise than my old stock 3 core one. temps roughly the same as the stocker but mine was also the heavy duty one since its a forestry service jeep. came with the stock trans cooler too

 

....there was a stock 3 row rad?????

 

said d/c on it and 3 core aluminum on it. would take a pic but its in the scrap yard now
