I went to replace one of my fog light bulbs and when I opened the housing a pile of rust fell out! I think it used to be the interior reflector. Anyway, I'm needing to put new housings in and wanted some advice. Maybe an LED upgrade??? Something with a similar design. Thoughts?

Google fog lights theres a lot of options.

'00? Factory Fogs? Most people hate them. Pretty much for the reasons that you are replacing them. I just put factory fogs in my '00 that did not come with them. Bought these:



They went up some. I paid about $32 each. They are a direct bolt in and will use the factory connector. As to the quality and how long they will last. Not a clue. You might be able to use these. I needed the bracket to bolt up under the Jeep, like I said put factory fogs on a Jeep that did not come with them, but you might not need the bracket assuming you can get the fog light itself off.

Andrewmp6, I did Google it but got so many things it was hard to filter through it. I figured some guys on here have been there, done that so I would see what they have done to get ideas.

They're just fog lights. Don't make it rocket science. Pick something you like and git 'er done.

You got many brands sizes and prices its hard to pick one.If you want something factory looking kc lites make some that look stockish,Something different maybe some led cube lights that everyone and their grandma makes now.

Is there anything specific to a fog light's specs to make it work as a "fog" light or is it just the position of it low to the ground?

Flat beam.

Ambers work better at cutting through the fog, but they aren't as popular these days. Most folks would rather look 'cool' than actually have better vision.

I have the stock bumper fog lights still on my '89 limited and not even the bulbs have been replaced... Don't ask me how that's possible though. Rust is bad inside them but not too bad because I do live in Los Angeles so we don't get crazy weather here. I off road where a lot of dust is kicked up and the yellow light on the fogs blends right in to the color of the dust (I know that because I nearly hit a buggy head on and I had to swerve off the trail because I saw his LED's before he saw my halogens) so I have these LED projector bulbs but they are 1/3" too long for the stock casing. I know they work really well but how do I extend the lens out to make them fit?

Don't.

Buy the correct housing/lens/bulb unit, and fuggedabout modifying something to fit your bulbs.

Wait are you putting leds in your headlights or fog lights?
