Default Replacing Dash Harness

So, after digging into the wiring behind and under the dash, it would appear I do not have the connectors for the overhead console. The red one for the dome light is there, but the pins don't match the console's red connector. Looked everywhere, but couldn't find them, even after removing the dashboard.

My new plan is one of two things. Either A) Find the wires in the existing harness to tap into for the console lights and display to work, or B) Replace the entire dash harness with one that has them. I got it out of a '91, so my only consern is if everything will plug right in. I'll probably need to get the fuse block at the firewall with it, correct?

I would not mind replacing the harness since it's been cut, tapped and reworked til the cows come home....It's a big mess, I'll put it nicely. Not nicely would be !!!!

What's strange is the connected next the fuse block under the hood for the temp probe is there.....As is the bracket for said probe behind the bumper. Why would THOSE be there if the interior does not have the needed connectors?

If someone could provide a diagram of splicing in the console's connectors to the harness, that's be awesome! Or if you think it'd be better to replace the harness (I'm leaning towards that....), let me know, I'd really like the feedback. I REALLY want the overhead, not just for the compass and temp, but also the space for new switches, the lights and storage.

One thing I forgot to ask....If I decide on replacing the harness, what years would work? Mine's a '93, but the one I'm planning to get is out of a '91. Has power windows and locks, if that matters, along with the footwell lights when the doors open.

Your 93 should have the plugs. You might not be looking hard enough.

The only one that fits any of the three on teh console harness is the red one for the original dome light, but even on that, the pins are different. The dash is out right now and we searched the entire harness inside, but nothing

I'm pretty sure the plugs are behind the kick panel passenger side.

These are the connectors on the console harness. Other than the red, the two black ones don't match any of the small connectors in the kick panel. They could possibly be tucked somewhere I didn't see, I'll look again tomorrow. Again, have the entire dash out, but didn't see them.

EDIT: Found this one NAXJA and I think I'll take a look at it tomorrow as well. I remember all the colors he mentions, too. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showpost....41&postcount=8

Will it work in place of my '93's harness? All I'd need to do is unplug it from the bulkhead, remove the old and put in the new, right?

But you will have to run the wire for the temp sensor.

Easy enough, I suppose. It's in good condition, not cut up or anything? And how much would you want?
