replacing cps didn't

Question replacing cps didn't

So i had a mechanic come by and diagnose my jeep problem he told me it was the cps and i replaced it and bam nothing just more cranking. I have spark fuel and pressure. Did i need to take the terminals of the battery first? heeellpppppp!

do u need to disconnect the battery before replacing the cps?

I did when I did mine, but as long as the key is off the 5V supply line should be dead.

huh well i just disconected the battery to see if it helpeed but no luck. ideas,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,anyone?

check the module in the dist my 94 died one day pulled cap the thing had corroded to powder rep[laced it and away we went i think its called a pick up coil

that part is good i swapped that already haha. Im thinkin its the 02 sensor

try tapping on the map sensor

try hitting it with starting fluid. If it fires you have correct valve and spark timing and a fuel issue.

Check your fuses and see if you have a 20A fuse that is blown. The O2 sensor is powered thru a 20A fuse. If the O2 sensor shorts out this fuse blows and engine does not start. The fuel injectors and ASD relay are on the same circuit.

Question

the starter is new.......i replaced the distributor cap and wires and the distributor rotor and the spark plugs and the cps and the the coil works and allll works...............still cranks stong just does not start anyone have any idea? the mechanic said it was the cps but obviously its not so what should i do?!?!?!???!

Sounds like you're in the same boat I am. I replaced plugs, cap, rotor, wires, CPS, rewired the CPS to the ECM (mine's a RENIX), replaced the dying starter and altenator, and got a new, strong battery. It still won't start. I know it has spark and fuel. It fires on a few cylinders, randomly though. Not enough to start and keep running. I'm going to try putting some fresh gas in it (it sat for over a year since it last started) and then, if it still doesn't start, I'm going to replace the fuel pump. If that still doesn't work... anybody want a Jeep?
