I am replacing the hard brake lines on my 8.25 I'm prepping to go under the XJ. Does anybody have experience/ opinions with just leaving the lines as themselves on the axle without any protection like the little spring coily protectors on the stock lines? Or is some sort of protection recommended or necessary?
I havent found the coil spring protectors locally, so a thought I had was to split some 7/32" I.D rubber tubing and wrap/ziptie it to the brake lines. Any advice is appreciated.

What you're looking for is armored brake line, and I don't know if you can still find it with the coils. I know most everyone has gone to poly-coated steel. Same type of thing, just a smooth poly coating instead of the steel coils. O'reillys has it, I'm sure you could get it at NAPA or elsewhere as well.

EDIT: found some steel armor line on Summit Racing's site:

You definitely want some armored line on the axle to protect from rocks, and other road debris and hazards. Also, ASK at your local parts house. They may have it in house.

Thats about what I am looking for, Ive got to see if I can get it locally, the shipping from the states is pretty bad. The local Napa boys are pretty useless, I tried asking them about protected brake lines, they said they'd never heard of them other than OEM applications.
