Default Replacing Aerial

The aerial has been broken off, I tried one of those interior ones that stick to the inside of the windscreen but the reception was poor. So I have bought a short rubber one but I can get no access to replace it. There is a large plastic cover behind the mast. How is it removed ?.

I have removed these on other cars and the fixings usually break and I have had to drill and use self tapping screws

If you have a power antenna I think you'll have to get inside the fender. If you dont you should just be able to unscrew it.

Unless you really mean aerial then I'm completely clueless. .. lol

Really? That's a new one. Never heard them say it on top gear...

I dont think BBC's Top Gear is the governing body on their language.

Hay Mate

If your aerial is the fixed type (ie: not power and doesn't telescope into the fender) there should be a knurled **** at the base/and or flats on either side of the metallic base of the mast. You can just replace the mast on the US versions, not sure about the UK's

However, most of the cars that they test on Top Gear probably don't have much of an "aerial" on them...

I looked at the plastic cover and I would have to remove the wheel first to try and access the mast, then I would have to feed the wire to the stereo. So I am going to remove some of the plastic in the rear and fit it at the back of the rear window near the roof.
I have to remove the plastic in the back anyway as I also have a reversing sensor to fit !.
