Does anyone have a pdf with the instructions on replacing the hatch/liftgate? I'm wondering where the wiring harness goes that powers the tail lights. Does it run along the side behind the plastic molding above the doors or is it above the headlights? Where does it end?

 

The wiring that enters the top center of the hatch, plugs in behind the spare tire area on the driver side rear qtr panel.

While you have it apart, you should inspect the wires in the rubber sleeve that runs above from the body into the hatch. All the opening and closing causes these wires to break.

 

Thanks. I saw a few worn wires. The replacement hatch seems to have a good harness.

 

Verify the plug matches your original. I had a 98 and bought a used 00 or 01 and the plug was different.
