Replaced od lockup solenoid and still no od
As title states i replaced overdrive lockup solenoid and overdrive still only works till my jeep gets up to its running temp. It is a 98 jeep cherokee 4.0l a340 tranny. only thing i can think of is maybe my nss casing on the backside of it is all kind of cracked up. and the nut that goes on the shaft that comes out of the side of the tranny in the nss is stripped from previous owner. If that at all makes any since. please help me im about to run this thing into a wall.

It has the AW4 trans. Do you drive with your foot on the brake? The brake switch unlocks the torque converter.
Do you have a CEL, or have you checked to see if there are any codes present? Have you checked to VERIFY that the new S3 solenoid is within spec for resistance. You can check it with reference to ground through the female connector (7 pin) at the trans dipstick tube.

Your codes are related to the trans control and torque converter lockup, or lack of.
The other info I was trying to relay to you was how to test the S3 solenoid. If you don't have the skills or inclination to try and troubleshoot this yourself, you may as well just take it to the Jeep dealer and let them plug their AW4 DRB II tester in.

I haven't looked at the brake switch, but I recall that it can be adjusted or simply replaced. Take a peek and see what position its in with the pedal raised(normally open or normally closed?). You might also look and see if you have a weak return spring on the pedal. That sounds a whole lot easier and less $ than taking it to a trans shop.

Is there anyway that the switch could have just gone bad? because it was working yesterday when i pulled up on the brake pedal and not today.
