Default Replaced battery cable then nothing

So I decided to beef up the neg. battery cable. It was a little short so it barely made it to the battery from the engine. So after everything is hooked up. Nothing. Just a single click, I tried a few more times same result, put the old one back in and it started. The only thing i can think of is that it was close to the pos. terminal and the rest of the wires hooked to the pos post. Oh and I have a push button start, but it has always worked so far. Thanks for the help.

My thoughts is this..if the old cable works and the new one does to me that leads to the new cable is bad in some form or fashion. I mean it's not rocket science you have a cable that goes from block to battery post so either the post connect is bad, connect at block or the cable itself..

Check continuity with a multimeter. See if they failed to strip the plastic outer covering of the wire before they slapped it into the battery end or the block end on the connector.
