Question Replace fuel pump on my 2000 and lost fuel gauge functionality

Title pretty much says it. Yesterday my brother and I swapped out bad fuel pump with a new OEM pump and might have rushed the step where we connected the float to the new pump and now my fuel gauge doesn't register any fuel. Anyone got any tips for easy fix or do I have to drop the tank again?
Edit: I really need to clean my rims.

LOL, only fix is To run out as much fuel as you can. Then redo it and don’t rush it. Just Do it right.

Unfortunately, looks like you are dropping the tank again. Been there, done that, I know it sucks.

I always kind of figured that if I have to replace the fuel pump in my '00, I have a Mopar one in "stock" (LOL), that I would drop the tank.
But when out am going to consider cutting a hole in the floor.

Start at Post #27.
But would do one thing different then the write up.
Instead of building up around the hole thinking a bigger patch panel from a boneyard XJ, some rivnuts and weather stripping, and be good to go.
Just for things like this thread.
LOL.

Yeah figured this was the case. Just hoped for Gandalf to come in and wave his staff then all is fixed.

Where did you get a new OEM pump? (Assuming by OEM you mean Chrysler/Mopar)

I must say that I'm really glad you asked. Turns out I did not go with the OEM part and got one off carparts.com. I went to my emails to see which one I got and when I went to the product image I discovered I did not even receive the one that is pictured. I'm definitely no mechanic but my brother is more knowledgeable than I am so after watching a few videos I felt confident we could change that pump. Of course hindsight being 20/20 I should have inspected the pump before I ever tried to install it. Going to contact the seller and see what my options are.

Contacted carparts.com and they acknowledged that they may have sent a defective pump and gave me a full refund including shipping. The process was easy and Now I have a new pump I bought from an auto parts store near my house. Hopefully take two goes easier.
