Now I need help with this. How it happened:
Blower motor has been moaning and groaning intermittently for about 2 weeks. Well, on the trail yesterday it started CONSISTENTLY howling and we just turned it off. Kept trying it later on to see if it cooled down but didn't.
After about an hour, I tried it again and it started working....but still consistently howling. I just let it go as I was almost home. Well, it just quit blowing about 5 minutes from my house. As in would not turn on. I tried all the fan speeds and it never turned on.
I began pulling the motor out, and it's certainly bad...you can hear/feel it. Just for the hell of it, I did a direct connection of the old motor to the battery and it turned on!! I checked for power on the wiring harness pigtail(harness under the hood) and I was receiving no power!??!?!?!
I pulled the resistor out and nothing was burned there and all connections were "complete" using my tester.
I have a feeling i'm gonna install the new motor....and it's not gonna work either! What else could be the problem? I checked the big 30a fuse on the fuse panel and it's still good. What else can I do?
HELP!

Do you have a electrical diagram for the vehicle.... Look to see if there are other fuses or a relay. Not sure, but does the key need to be on ??? for power to the pigtail ???

The one I purchased was used, won the bid. Can't remember exactly, but it was under $25.00 including shipping.
Got it from a place in North Carolina. I have bought several items from them before and they guarantee all the parts.
I can get there Ebay site if you would like it.

Well......it is solve/fixed.............sorta. Turns out the problem was the actual rocker switch. I replaced it with a new one from NAPA(because all the cherokees in the junkyards already had theirs taken!!!. I also managed to find a non-barbeque'd brown connector plug in the junkyard.
I pushed the wires out of my burnt one and placed them in the new/used one.
Now for the sorta fixed part........I only have a very very slow speed and the fastest speed. I guess the resistor bit the dust as well, even though I checked it.
I'm not picky and at least now I have heat in this 15 degree weather!

The Judge !!! ....
For anyone in Canada,I got the Heater Resistor at the Chrysler dealer in Barrie for $34. and installed it in my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport.Very hard spot to get the cover off under the glove box but now I have heat again. In the summer I may replace the motor also. The connector to the blower motor is causing a problem as it is a little loose but I solved this by securing it better with a wire around the heater motor.I have 270,000 KM on the jeep and it still runs fine.Thank goodness something lasts this well.It gets me through the large amount of snow we had last week .
