But all of that was not wasted effort. With that rust in the tank, it needed to be cleaned out.
1. If you could direct me to these connectors that would be amazing. I have no idea where they are.

2. The tank is still garbage though. It's rusted up inside like a shipwreck. I just cleaned up the loose stuff. I'll have to get another one sooner or later.

So i went for another drive and took another reading. 13v now. but still dropping pressure.

As i made the turn into my Hood the truck coughed and died, then i noticed smoke under the hood... one of the fusible connectors got smoked. small orange wire.

Well. Not a solution but I figured out why the link blew. My ballast connectors shorted out on my chassis.

Have you considered your PCM/ECM? Not sure it would cook your fuseable link but the idea that it runs fine for 20min then stumbles is a solid symptom of a PCM failing. For what its worth…

The fusible link was my fault, being careless with exposed terminals.

Would a failing PCM cause a drop in fuel pressure?

Pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if there's fuel inside.

The FPR is new replaced yesterday- no fuel on the Vac side

Fuel pump is new replaced today- carter unit

Measured voltage at pump again. Full 12-13 Volts.

blew out the supply lines- flows great

I'm at my wits end here. I'm replacing the tank tomorrow... I've replaced everything else in the system. Might as well I guess.

Have you ever tested the fuel pump ground?

I refreshed the ground yesterday, sanding down the surfaces and checking resistance. Also I'm getting 13v at the pump.

The hose from the pump up to the flange is clamped, right?

Yes, all of the Adel clamps are tight and in the correct spot.

Hmm. 13v at the pump? Measured with a meter?

Might be corrosion upstream. Measure it when the pump is running. You need a load on the circuit.

Ok guys. It appears that the issue was caused by a rusty fuel tank. I bought a new 20 gal model from the parts store for 130$. I jumpered the pins on the diagnostic plug for the pump and just let the existing filter clean the fuel as it was transferred into gas tanks. Installed new tank, Blew out all lines, installed another new filter.

Haven't had any fuel pressure issues after a few hours of driving.
