Just change the filter! Note how much, if any, oil comes out when you unscrew it.

I thank you everyone for your input... and i did just do an oil change so it most likely is the filter...

and i know everyone does not have a crystal ball but i did read somewhere that Renix oil pumps failed before any other oil pump for a 4.0 and i feel this has been disproved and i thank you everyone for your input knolwledge on the subject and 5-90 thanks for the gauge plug in idea... I'm going to try that as well put the guage in before and after...I change out the oil filter

Most of the time when someone replaces an oil pump they are just pulling straws because it is more likely an engine wear problem. I wouldn't get too obsessed over oil pressure...it is what it is.

No brainer, Stop Teenage Pregnancy, OR, Stops Them Permanently? Really though, STP saved my butt once to make it out of the valley over some hill to San Louis Obispo'. Unlikely I would have made it there to install new rod inserts in a 56 chevy step van, (in a sand lot in the wind), to then drive it 800 miles home, with about 5 pints. There was a big picture window with a florescent light in it with a 3 foot pyramid of stp pints, I could see a mile off, banging along at 17 mph (on the freeway), approaching the grade.

I changed from a fram to a napa premium and it has risen from 25-30 to 45 at cold idle.

Not to mention the fact that your oil filter will be filled with oil rather than air on start-up.
