Sucks your having so much trouble ,but when you get it fixed it will be well worth it ,and for Free ,xj thats pretty awesome

 

does your Jeep have the C101 connector?

 

Not quite the same, my starter does crank and the injectors fire, just not lighting the fuel.

It does, I've test the continuity of the Cam and Crank sensor wires back to the ECU plug, based on what I read this morning (after seeing your reply) I should open it up and clean it no matter how this turns out.

 

I have a friend meeting me tonight to 'lend' me the ICM from his 89, if that works I'll have to squeeze the piggy bank to get one.

 

I'm really looking forward to getting it going, although I think my daughter is already planning to push me into the right seat.

 

Well, that was what I consider and encouraging test.

A friend of a friend came over with his 89 MJ. We took his ICM and plugged it into my xj and it started up and idled pretty nicely.

I restarted a couple of times but didn't have a chance to run it or even let it warm up, but I think I will call some salvage yards and parts stores to see about getting one.

So far so good, and thanks to everyone.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I found a used one at a local yard for $40 (and I can pick it up tonight).
