What is involved in removing the plastic trim between the wheel wells on the doors and front fenders ? Are they retained by adhesive or mechanical means-----------------GeezerD

on my Cherokee, it was just an adhesive that held them onto the vehicle. I just grabbed a corner, and pulled them off slowly, making sure I wasn't pulling any paint off with them.

It did leave some of the adhesive as a residue on the doors and such. With a little "elbow grease" and some time, it comes off, or you can by a product specific "buffing" wheel that attaches to a drill....makes the job really easy, and super fast.

I removed the side body trim and was left with a lot of the adhesive tape still stuck to the body. I had a piece of 3/8 teflon rod left over from an earlier project and shaped it to a chisel point, then used it to shave the adhesive off the body. the adhesive won't stick to the teflon and the teflon wont harm the paint. Worked great! You can get teflon in various shapes and sizes from McMasters Industrial Supply. ----------------- GeezerD

A heat gun or hair dryer helps remove it.

I think the auto parts stores sell an adhesive remover. I like the teflon scraper idea. Gotta be careful with a heat gun since it can soften the paint and the adhesive will then bond into the paint itself and then you can not get it off. (Been there, done that! lol)
