All I did was open the rear hatch, remove the cover and the speakrrs were screwed to the hatch it self.

1.Pry the covers off with a screwdriver
2.get a drill and drill out the rivets
3.unhook the wires
And voilà your done

thats the quickie way, i found it to be much easier and neater to take the bar off. I also re-sized the hole and threw 6.5s in there. Even if your not putting anything bigger in there, its not easy to hold a speaker in the air and solder it down unless u have 3 hands

It depends what he's doing. I just wanted to get to the wiring so I could run it to my two 6x9s that I put in boxes behind the seat. But if you just want to get the speakers out it works. And it takes but 5 minuets of you time.

So they are held in with rivets, I knew something wasn't right lol. So what all do you have to remove to get the speaker bar down? Its a 2 door and my cousin said his 01 4 door didn't come it like mine, because we couldn't figure it out lol

I have a 94 4 door with the rear roof speaker bar. Just changed the speakers to 6.5 Polk mm651s Thursday. Just remove the last two screws on each top rear molding and take the the rear lens off and the 2 screws.. you will be able to push the left side forward and slid the bar out. The rivets are plastic. Ten to 15 minuets and the whole thing is down. Then do what you want. By the way both rear speaker wires run under the left rear upper molding..

Lol I changed them today actually. Just used some cutters on the rivets, then put screws in there place....not much for the screws to hold on to there
