my wife's 1995 grand Cherokee spider gears are making a clicking noise when turning and need to be replaced in the front low pinion Dana 30. it is equipped with 3.73 gears and it appears that i cant remove the pic for the spider gears with out removing the ring gear cause it is in the way. i was wondering if i can pull the carrier, replace the spider gears, and replace the carrier with no problem; does this require special tools or just regular hand tools.

you'll need a 36mm socket to pull the shafts and some 13mm 12 points to pull the hub beyond that normal hand tools no need to pull the carrier you can do it all in the axle

yep all this is done, all i have now is to get the spider gears out, now my only problem is that the ring gear is in the way of the pin removal. i have seen some people grind the gear to install the pin on 4.56 gears, but i don't want to do that, so i was just verifying that i could remove the carrier and replace it with no repressions or special tools needed
