Default Remote Door Locks Stopped Working

The power door locks stopped working. 2001 60th Anniversary Model. Had a Compustar Auto Start installed about 3 years ago. Everything was working well but now the power door locks stopped working. The auto start works. When I try to unlock the doors with the remote, the lights flash (as usual) but I don't hear the doors unlocking. I can't get the doors to unlock with the interior button either.

I took the drivers side door apart and removed the window switches(the passenger side window stopped working), cleaned up the contacts, put everything back. The windows work but the central locking doesn't. The doors won't unlock with the interior switch. I'm thinking it could be the wires in the door harness.

Before I take it apart to check the wires, would there be any other things to check? Something I missed? I would like to check everything else before taking apart the door harness since it's very awkward getting to the harness.

Looks like Fuse 15 (25a) and CB 28 (25a) in the junction block power the lock/window switch. Fuse 15 should have constant power, and CB 28 when key is in run/acc.

I checked all of the fuses but will check if I have constant power to fuse 15.

For starters when using the fob are you having problems with the aftermarket, the factory one, or both?
When you try to lock/unlock ,either with the buttons on the door or the fob, the doors do you hear a click coming from the passenger side door?
The passenger side controls the locks.
Mine would not work every once in a while and when they did not would hear the click.
Thinking it is one of the 2 relays that is in the control.
Replaced with a used part years ago and all was fine until recently when they started acting up here and there again.

I don't have the factory fob but the aftermarket one unlocked the doors (lights flash and can hear the doors unlock) and also remote starts the car (and still works).

When I use the fob or the Door lock switch on the driver's door I don't hear anything.

A couple of times, over the past few years, the doors would stop working and after a few days they would work again. Now it's been about a month so I need to investigate further.

I just checked and I didn't know there is another fuse panel on the passenger side! I'll check fuse #15 there (25A) tomorrow.

I didn't see anything about a relay for the power door locks but fuse #15 controls the door locks and the passenger window which sometimes stops working too.

I just looked up the fuses and never realized there's another fuse block on the passenger side footwell. I'm going to change fuse #15 (25A) tomorrow.

Passenger door lock switch. I'd almost bet.

In the control itself.

It was the 25A fuse!!! I can't believe I didn't even know it was there!

BTW, I had already taken apart both the passenger and driver's side switches and cleaned them with contact cleaner. They were working a little wonky right after I put them back in but now everything works flawlessly. Just wondering if I should have put a dab of dielectric grease on them before I put them back in.

Glad to have replaced a fuse rather than taking apart the wiring harness. Thanks Saudade and Ralph77. My chiropractor also thanks you.

Re opening this thread

I replaced the fuse and everything was working well. Did some regular maintenance and had the battery replaced last week. Today, the locks stopped working again. And, yes, the drivers side switch does click.

Do you think removing the switch, cleaning it, and replacing it is the way to go? or maybe replace the switch altogether?

And, to complicate matters, the headlights stopped working. The low beams don't work at all but the brights go on when I turn them on or flash them. I checked the fuses (specifically, 3, 4, 5, 16) and they are fine. I did upgrade the harness about 5 years ago and I checked the inline 25A fuse and it's fine too.

Any suggestions?
