Alright So right now i have Hella Lighting Relays

and they are controlled by a LED rocker switch with 3 prongs in the back of the switch.






I want to put in toggle switches because they are what i prefer for this application.


If i were to get a 2 way(on/off) toggle switch with 3 prongs would it be wired the same way?

 

The reason i want the toggle switch instead of the rocker is because of location the toggle looks better in my opinion and that is what i just drilled the holes to fit lol.

there would not be enough room either to put a regular rocker switch.

 

the switches are pretty much the same the extra prong is to ground the light in the switch that lights up when you turn them on. You can get a toggle that has the light in the end of it.

 

Based on the wiring diagram... does the switch also control your fog lights or when the switch is in that position does turning the fog lights on (or brights) turn the Hellas on too?

 

almost. The extra prong is to separate your relay and "lead" the LED light is internally grounded and has nothing to do with the prongs. I can not use the 2 prong toggle because if you connect the lead and the relay on the same terminal then the switch becomes useless as the relay is always getting power when the lights are on. and if you turn it to the "off position" then either they stay on or you pop a fuse. The 3rd prong is needed.



The switch does not control my fogs. It is the "lead" when the switch is "on" but my fogs are not on the Hella's are not on because there is nothing to activate the relay. Once the fogs turn on the Hella's will then work because the power coming up the "lead" wire activates the relay.

Btw, after much thinking i bet you can figure out that i got everything figured out lol. i just needed sometime to think about it.

 

Alright so i got 2- 2way/3prong toggles for my roof lights. And then i ordered one more.

i also got 1- 3way on-off-on toggle which i will make my AC fan switch. (AC fan normal(down)-AC fan off- AC fan manual on(up))

Yeah they are a bit pricy. (ouch!) but i will be happy once it is done and cleaned up. No messy wiring. Switches the way that i like them and it expandable up to 8 switches too!!!
