Default relay help for fog lights

im trying to have my front fog lights wired through a relay, they are two baja 100watt lights. ok so got the 30 on the relay to the battery, with a 30amp fuse, im using 12 ga wire i think. Then the 87s are to the lights. and then 85 is to the switch and 86 to the ground. The lights are grounded and they work i tested them by straight wiring to the battery and they worked. So for the switch i have a wire from the relay and then a wire from a power wire for power to the relay to turn it on. So they were working earlier and later i flipped the switch on and it blew the fuse again. Thats all its done is blow fuses. Any help?

x2 and i think the only thing a relay does is take the load off the switch anyways

So you have a 30 amp fused supply running to term 30 on the relay? (2) 100 watt lamps should only draw about 17 amps. Check the wiring from the relay to the lights for a short circuit.

short circuit?

also the whole point of a relay is to not have so much power running to a switch. all it has done is blow fuses im not sure why tho

It sounds like the wires are grounded somewhere between term 87a @ the relay & the lamps, thats why the fuse is blowing. Pull the relay out of the socket and check the resistance of the circuit between the wires going to the lamps and ground.

try some resistors http://www.the12volt.com/resistors/resistors.asp same thing happend to me when I hooked up blue LED lights in all of my head lamps and A/C vents I had no resistors on them so it blew fuses cause it was hooked up to speakers to flash with the bass.

how would i put in resistors? i guess my ground for the relay could be bad, but idk y they would work for an hour then a few hours later blow the fuse?
