Default reducing wind and road noise

I'm looking for advice on how to reduce road noise and wind noise.

I have tinnitus (ear ringing) and I would really like to reduce the whine from the road and the wind when at speed.

Having a nice sounding stereo would be fine too, but I am not looking for any kind of "competition" stereo....not even close.

I just want to reduce the noise in the XJ so my ears aren't bothered.

Here are some thoughts:

Dynamat/deadening material: (although I don't know what kind of material, and where to put it).

engine mounts????

shocks????

Has anyone done any of these and reduced noise and vibration in their XJ?

I would really appreciate any help (and so would my ears).

also check all door weather stripping, and the window seals. i think quadratec sells the window seals.
also if you have the wing windows, ive seen people convert them to just windows. heard they seal better.
hope this helps

the easiest way known to reduce noise in a Jeep is to leave it parked. A Limo its not.

i would say it depends on how much you wanna spend, and how you wanna do it ,
1. loud radio
2. thick floor
3. ear plugs

1. 2 12's in the back with 6 1/2's all around
2. get a ton of cans of under body coating and do the under body, make a day out of it, its easy and fun, now take the carpet out and bed line your floor, take your time and do it right, is's not so fun...
then replace carpet.
3. ear plugs well yea enplanes it's self, OR wait till you get old enough to lose your hearing, no matter what have fun with it

Kid got me some window visors for my B day. I was surprised how much they quieted the wind noise with the windows up.

Thanks for all the ideas.

This is my fourth Cherokee. It's a 2001, and the door seals are good. Best door seals I've ever had, and I have to give Jeep credit because there are a lot of little design additions they added over the years.

I drove around a lot yesterday and if there is a problem with the seals, I couldn't hear it (partly because the road noise/vibration seems to be the real problem.) I should add that my hearing is actually fine. I had it tested....it's just the damned ringing in my ears.

I am willing to put a weekend into pulling out all the carpets and lining the floor/firewall. Has anyone done this? What products worked and any tips? I've looked at dynomat and others but it is tough to tell if this stuff works. If it really works, I'd throw $300 or $400 if it made a big difference.

I like the idea of spray cans on the undercoating, but, do you need to clean it up first, or do you get under there and just spray the hell out of everything? Any cans that work better than others?

Thanks for any more ideas....

i did it, be careful taking the carpet out, i ripped mine
also i cleaned mine while it was out made a big difference (in smell)
i use herculiner and it protects it and quiets it pretty well, but for your noise problem, to 100% get rid of it dynomat and things like it may be better suited.

also to add a little extra would be to do Undercoating, i used Duplicolor's brand and it worked out pretty nice, i pressure washed under the jeep first.
