I just got some red leds and want to put them in my instrument clster to make it bright because it sucks right now at night what is involved?
1. Remove cluster
2. Remove bulbs
3. Insert LEDs
4. Reinstall Cluster
5. Enjoy
...now LEDs have a right and wrong way to install. I would test that you have them all installed properly before putting your cluster back in. Also, when I did this on my '87 I had to keep the incandescent bulbs for the blinker indicators. Apparently, those are used for the current draw for the blinker module. An alternative would be to get a no draw blinker module.

I cant remember 100% but I think the longer prong on the LED is the power
anybody know for sure?
Anyways, if you really wanted to run them, I would suggest tapping into the wires that power and ground your cluster lights, and just run some wire to the LEDs wherever you have them.
I did this with conventional bulbs on my brothers 82 K-10

As an interesting related tidbit of info, German auto manufacturers have been using orange dash lighting for many, many years now because they're much easier on your eyes during night driving.
Straight red, on the other hand, can be pretty abrasive to your eyes after a while, so keep that in mind.

BUT since you have LEDs which illuminate in a very narrow cone, unlike traditional incandescent bulbs, I would test different positions to see what looks the best, good luck
