That's a good thought. i was also considering a 1.5" spacer under the leaf springs. People do that right?

Some frown on it and some say ok if the thickness is kept within reason.

That's a good idea too. I was also thinking of a 1.5" spacer but today i was told that would compromise the performance of the spring. I am not sure how though.

Well amazon only sent me one spring so i am in limbo waiting for the next one. Will post a performance update once these get installed. i would do it myself but i have a torn tendon in my right elbow...big bummer.

cholthauss? I think has a build "xj on 3/4 ton" and he has shackles look up the build and check it out. On the other side however, he seems to know exactly what he is doing.

I used crown brand springs from J&P parts online. They were great on phone and I bought 1 size heavier duty. Was supposed to give 3 in of lift but it was more like 2. I had to press in the bushings myself. Take the time to scrub off rust and paint with liberal amount of black rustoleum. Use anti sieze on the bolts going back in. My jeep now sits with a slightly higer rake from rear to front and it looks great! Rides great too!

I ended up putting airshocks on the rear bc I tow a trailer with a 4 wheeler back and fourth to a deer lease. I put rhino shocks on the front. No problems so far.

Default Update/review on replacements!

So the the Dorman's strangely enough gave my jeep a noticeable lift in the rear end even though I thought they were 1.5" lower than the UC package springs. Maybe my coils in the front are shot too?? Because now the rear sits a bit high than the front.

The monroes are not bad at all despite the hugely negative review i got from two different mechanics in town who both highly recommended KYB's instead.

The ride is great on road and off road. No complaints at all, now i will just have to see how long the monroes last before they blow out and if the doorman's settle any in the rear.

Over all, I am relieved. this has not turned out to be disaster after all!!

definitely boosted me in the back from my sagging leafs. Haven't broken out the measuring tape but looks to be about a half inch higher in the front on mine. I heard kyb was the best to get too but still got the monroe's. Before I changed the leafs, I couldn't cross railroad tracks without thinking I was going to fall apart.

I read up on changing the coil springs in the front. I was going to replace them with the moog coils with the variable rate from advance auto. Every thread I read on different forums said that they were fine, even at 18 years old, unless they look like they are sagging. Most people said just buy a lift kit. I'm going with the OME 1.5" lift kit. Only planning to go offroad in some local woods and the beach once or twice a year. Keeping my miles down with another car.

odds are that your fronts are sagging as well (all metal springs will fade over time). We carry the Crown springs, and as you mentioned they are specific to various packages so its important to verify before ordering which code springs you need. With yours, its possible that the original springs were sagging so much that even though the dorman's were 1.5" lower, they still lifted the truck a good bit due to wag sag.
