92 Laredo rear wiper swipes only once when turned on. It will swipe again when turned off.
When the wash cycle is in operation, it will swipe about 6 times or so.
Is there a bad timer switch somewhere?

Next time it rains I'll turn it on again and wait longer. But i thought I had waited at least a minute, but maybe not.
It should work like an intermittent wiper.

The rear wiper is definitely an intermittent wipe unit. It wipes a few times rapidly when you use the washer then goes back to intermittent. There should only be a few seconds between wipes. If your wiper is much slower than that, it is likely going bad. These units have a history of going bad. I've replaced the units on every XJ we had except my '98 so far, and it may have been replaced by the last owner and I just don't know about it. Fortunately, replacing the unit is pretty easy. If you have to replace it, remove the wiper arm, disconnect the hose for the washer, take off the retaining nut just under the arm, remove the interior panel on the liftgate, and a couple bolts later, it's out. Do the reverse to install the new one.
