Default Rear wiper not working

I've got a 2001 cherokee sport. My rear wiper just up and quit on me. Checked and replaced fuse but still nothing. Any advice on what to start looking at next? Switch? Motor? At a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If motor, is there any way to test it?

I have a 2001 one too. I just went ahead and bought a used wiper motor off eBay for like $35 and it has been flawless since!!!

I replaced the motor, only to find out It was just the rocker switch. You can check it out by swapping the rear window defogger switch with the wipe switch. Switches are cheap compared to a wiper motor.

This worked for me:
Lift the rear (keep it raised) gate and spray PB Blaster several times onto the rod that the wire arm is attached to. Turn the rear wipers on and "help" it along.

I have a 1994 jeep grand Cherokee that did the same, before just buying the motor. I took it apart and that's where I found the problem. the housing where there shaft goes in that connects the gears to the wiper blade, was jammed with dirt, rust etc... I took mine apart cleaned it problem fixed. be warned it is a pain if you let it be. Jeep on man

I'm going to resurrect an old thread...

How in the hell do you get the wiper arm off?

I think the wiper arm and shaft are splined, like an axle. Look for a small tab on the side of the arm where it pivots. Pull the wiper arm away from the glass, then take a flat bladed screwdriver and pry that tab out, away from the arm. It wont go very far. Once that tab is out, lower the wiper arm back down. Pull the wiper arm off the shaft. Sometimes they stick.

At some point they changed that where you popped a cap off the end of the wiper arm. Underneath was a nut, i think 13mm? That nut was the only thing holding the wiper arm on. What year they changed i dont know.

Well it took some PB Blaster, a crowbar, and a 2x4 but I got it off!!! Now to get the motor working and get a new arm.

Unhappy Rear Wiper

hello i am new to this forum but i have been using it for months for diy fixes. i have had my jeep 8 months and the rear wiper has not worked ever. i checked the fuses as soon as i noticed the problem, no issues. I replaced the switch first since was the cheaper of the two potential problems. That did not fix it. got the new motor in this past weekend, still not working. rechecked fuses, still good.
I am completely at a loss for what is going on.

Sounds to me like wiring somewhere in between the switch and motor if everything else is good. Pull the switch and access the motor, then use a multimeter to check for continuity from one end of the switch wire to the other end near the motor.
