Default Rear Window Wiper and Defroster

The rear window wiper and defroster doesn't work on the 2000 XJ I just bought. Before I bring it back to the dealer for repair, I was wondering if there is anything obvious to look at. Checked fuses. The rear window washer still works. Any ideas?

Definitely check the fuses. Is the switch on the dash like in older models if so then it is easy to pull the switch out to check for power to it.

Is there any chrysler dealers left to take it too lol

A bad/loose ground connection in the hatch could cause your symptoms. Does your lic. plate light work?

License plate light works...think I'll bring it back to the dealer.....the dealer by the way is a local used car lot...the day I bought it, the radiator split near the top hose. I was passing the dealer as the smoke rolled out from under the hood. I pulled into his lot...he brought me to pick up my other vehicle and by the time I was done running a few errands, I went back and the Jeep was repaired and the owner actually apologized for the inconvieance...Hope he is as hospitable this time back. Thanx for all your input.

Check the harness that runs between the body and the gate, the wires are broken inside the boot. My 01 had broken wires and when you would hit the brakes the defrost lamp would light on the switch, and if you turned on the drfrost the brake lights would come on. Some of the wires were shorted togather, I just repaired all the wires works like new.
